GMS to present the musical Shrek, Jr. in March

Rehearsals are well underway for Gloversville Middle School's annual spring musical presentation. This year, middle school students will present  “Shrek The Musical Jr.” during three performances in March.

More than 50 students in grades 6-8 are working on the show, that is is based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks animated film and a popular Broadway play, both adapted from William Steig's book, “Shrek.”

More about Shrek The Musical Jr.

A family-friendly production with a meaningful message that is fun for all ages, Shrek, Jr. blends music and comedy as it follows the adventures of everyone's favorite ogre and his playful friend, Donkey. Together, they set off on a journey to rescue the beautiful and feisty Princess Fiona from a tower where she is held captive and guarded by fire-breathing dragon.

Adding to the fun, Shrek and Donkey are joined by several well-known fairy tale characters who have been banished from the kingdom by the sinister Lord Farquaad. Along the way, Shrek discovers that to succeed, he must conquer an even bigger obstacle: learning to believe in himself and be more accepting of others.

Mark your calendars!

Mark your calendars for the performances: Friday, March 16 and Saturday, March 17 at 7:00 p.m., with a matinee on Sunday, March 18 at 2:00 p.m. All performances take place in the GMS auditorium.
