Advantage Afterschool

The Advantage After- School Program strives to provide parents with a safe after-school environment for their children to improve their social, emotional and academic competencies, as well as reduce negative youth behavior.

The program is held Monday - Friday from dismissal time to 5:55 p.m. each day school is in session for a full day. The after school program offers a wide variety of experiences to help in the development of the elementary student. Activities are aimed to improve their social, emotional, and academic skills.

Students are provided a free USDA meal and time to complete homework with staff assistance before participating in other activities. All activities take place within the school building or on school grounds.

Personnel from various community agencies present workshops to inspire students to make positive choices and set goals. Parents are encouraged to visit and volunteer in the program as well as provide input and ideas. Families are urged to attend our family nights which highlight various student activities.

Enrollment is on a first come, first serve basis. Submitted applications must be completed before the students first day of attendance. Parents will be notified as to when their child may start. Enrollment forms are available in the Elementary School Main Office. Students report to the cafeteria to sign in immediately following dismissal. Transportation home is not provided. Students must be signed out by a parent or person listed on the student release form.

Students who participate in other after school activities such as sports and Scouts may still participate in the AASP using "wrap around." At dismissal, students sign into program and leave to attend their other activities at the set time. Then, students may return to program and work on homework or participate in activities until they are signed out to go home. Your child can take advantage of this program at no cost.
