GESD partners with sheriff’s department to enhance safety

The Gloversville Enlarged School District is partnering with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department to improve safety and security through the use of the school district’s surveillance camera system.

Upon the district’s request and in the event of an emergency, the 911 call center can now access the live feed of the district’s interior and exterior cameras at all six school buildings.

According to School Safety Officer Michael Etherton, this partnership will greatly enhance the ability of responding officers to quickly assess and resolve an issue, if one should arise, at one of the school buildings.

“We are continuing to take measures to improve the level of protection and safety of students while they are in our care,” Superintendent David Halloran said. “The more we can partner with our community’s experts in this area, the better.”

This initiative is part of the district’s ongoing efforts to improve student safety in all Gloversville schools.
