The Gloversville Enlarged School District Board of Education has announced its selection for the district’s next superintendent of schools.
Mr. David Halloran has been selected by the Gloversville Board of Education as the next superintendent of schools.
Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Superintendent David Halloran will assume the GESD superintendent’s position July 1, with a contract running through the 2021-22 school year.
Halloran will replace Interim Superintendent Robert DeLilli, who has been leading the district since former superintendent Michael Vanyo left the position at the end of the 2016-17 school year to take the superintendent’s job in the Ichabod Crane Central School District.
A 1992 graduate of Gloversville High School, Halloran has been the OESJ superintendent since 2015. Before taking the superintendent’s job in the recently merged OESJ, Halloran was high school principal in Fonda-Fultonville since 2007. He previously served as the assistant principal at Johnstown High School for two years, and taught social studies at Tamarac and Ballston Spa high schools. He also has experience working as a telecommunications construction foreman and worked in Alaska as a crab fisherman.
Halloran graduated from the State University of New York at Albany with a bachelor’s degree in history. He also holds a master’s degree in education from Concordia University in Portland, Oregon, and earned his School District Administrator certification from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
Gloversville initially began its search for a new superintendent in the fall, conducting interviews this winter without selecting a final candidate. The board reopened its search last month leading to the selection of Halloran.
“We’re proud to have selected one of our graduates to be the next Gloversville superintendent. Mr. Halloran knows our community and our schools, and we look forward to working with him as we continue to strengthen our educational program for all our students,” said Gloversville Board of Education President Robert Curtis.
