Gloversville High School’s Key Club got into the spirit of giving when they picked up toys for students who may not otherwise receive gifts for the holidays.
Eleven Key Club students, along with teacher Melinda Harrington, Elementary PTA President Jessica Rodriguez and GESD Superintendent David Halloran, traveled to the Toys for Tots distribution center in Clifton Park on Tuesday, Dec. 11 to gather the toys and load them onto school buses for transport to Park Terrace Elementary School, where they are currently being stored.
Elementary school administrators, the PTA and Key Club are working together to sort and wrap the toys, which will be distributed to families in time for the holidays.
“A lot of effort was put into this project by principals, school counselors, and other district staff to make this possible for the children,” said Harrington.
“Melinda was critical in securing the approval for 290 students to receive gifts,” said Halloran. “I thank our PTA, Key Club students and everyone involved whose efforts will help make the holidays brighter this year for many children in the community.”
The Capital Region Toys for Tots campaign serves several counties in upstate New York, including Fulton and Montgomery counties.
