Kingsborough students learn lesson in fire prevention and safety

In recognition of National Fire Prevention Month in October, several members of the Gloversville Fire Department recently visited Kingsborough Elementary School to provide fire safety instruction for pre-kindergarten to first-grade students.picture of student dressed in fire hat and mask surrounded by fellow students

The young students had an opportunity to see a fire truck up close, and learn about the different equipment that firefighters use, such as hoses and ladders. One student had an opportunity to try on a smaller version of a firefighter’s turnout gear, which includes a breathing mask and protective helmet.

The second graders will take a guided tour of the fire station, learn fire prevention and safety tips, and have an opportunity to ask firefighters about the important role they play in the community.

Special thanks to the Gloversville Fire Department!
