Letter from the superintendent regarding nurse’s arrest

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As you’ve likely seen on our website or in the local media, one of our elementary school nurses was arrested late Friday afternoon and charged with sexual abuse of a student.

The nurse, Teddy Germain, was an LPN assigned to the Boulevard school. Recently, he filled in for a day in the nurse’s office at Kingsborough, where the alleged incident that led to his arrest occurred.

The district alerted police immediately upon learning of the allegation, and immediately placed Germain on administrative leave. He is no longer employed by the district.

We are aware of this one complaint against Germain, but ask parents with any other concerns regarding his conduct to report them directly to the Gloversville Police Department. Their phone number is 518-773-4505.

I understand the concerns many may have regarding the timeliness and lack of detail in our communication on this, but as both an active police investigation and a personnel matter, I am very limited in what I can share or discuss.

The safety of our students is our highest priority, and I can assure all that our response was both swift and appropriate. Thank you for your patience and understanding as the Gloversville Police Department continues to investigate this very serious allegation.

Thank you for your time, and I wish you and your families a safe and happy holiday.

David Halloran
Gloversville Schools Superintendent
