Student council active in school, community service

The Boulevard Elementary Student Council has been busy helping others in both the school and the community.

In December, the students collected donations for the Montgomery County SPCA. In exchange for each donation, the students made a clay ornament for the person donating.

This month, student council members made banners for each homeroom teacher to make it easier to find teachers and classrooms. The banners are color-coded, name the teacher, classroom number and whether the class is on team dragon or husky.

In a project aimed at helping those outside the school, students are making valentines for veterans at a local hospital. So far, the students have made more than 50.

The student council students also continued to help out the school by making inspirational banners, interviewed the gym teachers for the school’s “Get to Know a Staff Member board,” created a Martin Luther King Jr. poster, continued with their kindness stones, and have helped make posters to promote different school functions.
