PARK TERRACE COUNSELING SERVICES

Consistent with the philosophy of education, elementary school counseling concerns itself with children in the developmental process of maximizing their potential.  Particular attention and time need to be given to the educational program of young children to provide training and opportunities to learn decision-making skills.  Individuals make the choices and decisions that ultimately determine their behavior and their learning.

The Park Terrace Elementary School employs a full-time school counselor.  The school counselor provides individual counseling, group counseling, classroom lessons focusing on career readiness and child safety, coordinates SBST (School-Based Support Services), and is available for consultation with staff, parents, and outside agencies.

Our School Counselor works  with children in the following ways:

  • Individual Counseling

  • Group Counseling with a specific focus on social skills, conflict resolution, coping skills, self-esteem, anger management, and friendship skills.  

  • Classroom lessons with a specific focus on child safety and career & work readiness.

  • Crisis Intervention Support Services 

  • Educating and honoring scholars for showing their PBIS 3B’s (Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe) in the school setting!
