Gloversville Middle School (GMS) is poised for an inspiring year ahead under the leadership of its new principal, Travis Heiser. With a dynamic vision for the school, Heiser is introducing the mantra “Right Here, Right Now” to encourage scholars, staff, and families to seize every moment for growth and connection.

Heiser, an educator with a strong commitment to fostering a supportive and innovative school environment, believes the mantra will empower the GMS community. “Right Here, Right Now is about being present and making every day count,” Heiser explained.

This year, Heiser will be joined by new Assistant Principal John Bennett Overall, an addition that the entire district is excited about as GMS builds a strong leadership team dedicated to scholar success.

At GMS, Heiser plans to roll out initiatives that promote academic excellence, scholar engagement, and a sense of belonging. From enriched classroom experiences to expanded extracurricular opportunities, the focus will be on creating a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere where every student can thrive. To help keep the mantra and mindset at the forefront each day, every middle-grade scholar has received a Right Here, Right Now” wristband as a daily reminder of the school’s mission and values.

The GMS community is already buzzing with excitement for the year ahead. Parents and scholars can expect open communication and opportunities to get involved, as Heiser prioritizes building strong partnerships with families. “We’re all in this together—right here, right now—and when we work together, we can achieve great things,” he said.

As Gloversville Middle School embarks on this new chapter, Principal Heiser’s “Right Here, Right Now” sets the tone for a year of purpose, progress, and possibility. Here’s to a transformative school year at GMS!
