What a memorable way to count down the final days of the school year. While the weather didn't cooperate for our tri-school Field Day, our scholars, staff, and volunteers didn't let the rain stop them from competing and having fun during our final week together.
Instead of canceling, everyone adapted quickly to the weather. Our scholars stayed focused, pushed through each event with great determination, and supported their teammates from start to finish.
A big thank you to our PE teachers, staff, and parent volunteers who worked hard behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. These moments capture exactly what it looks like when our scholars give it their all!

Today, we celebrate and honor all of the hardworking and dedicated fathers, as well as the incredible mentors throughout Gloversville who guide, support, and inspire our scholars every single day. Thank you for the structural foundation, love, and leadership you provide.
Enjoy your well-deserved day! #GESDCommunity

Along with the district administration and Board of Education, the Gloversville Teachers Association was honored to gather and celebrate several of our incredible educators as they head into a well-deserved retirement.
Congratulations to those who were able to join us for the celebration:
🍎 Vicki Ingalls
🍎 Shannon Wadsworth
🍎 Julie O'Toole
🍎 Melissa Catania
Together, these remarkable educators have dedicated more than 125 combined years of service to education, touching countless lives along the way. Their commitment, expertise, and unwavering support for our scholars have left a lasting impact on our schools and the Gloversville community.
We also extend our congratulations and appreciation to Maureen Cooper, Robin Hill, Beth Schloika, and Duane Hicks, who were unable to attend, as well as all of our other outstanding GESD retirees finishing up this school year. We thank each of you for your incredible years of service and dedication to our scholars.
Thank you all for the difference you have made, the lives you have shaped, and the legacy you leave behind. Once a part of the GESD community, always a part of the GESD family. We wish our entire class of 2026 retirees a future filled with relaxation, family, friendship, and endless new adventures! 🎓🎉

Even with the school year winding down to the final seconds, our Kingsborough scholars are still locked in and collecting Golden Tickets! 🎫
A huge shoutout to our amazing local business partners for spotting our scholars out in the community practicing their 3 B's (Be kind, Be respectful, Be responsible). The learning and leadership don't stop just because summer is around the corner.

To celebrate, parents were treated to a special event where they became the very first audience to hear the story read aloud. Our talented young writers were also presented with certificates recognizing them as officially published authors.
You can even check out their hard work for yourself-a copy of The Mystery at Animal City Zoo is officially on the shelf at the Gloversville Public Library! 🏛️📚
We wrapped up the big celebration with a pizza party from The Pizza Joint. A huge thank you to The Pizza Joint for the delicious food, and an extra special thank you for printing the books, so our authors have a copy to hold onto forever! ❤️
We want to give a massive congratulations to our amazing elementary scholars who crushed their reading goals during this year's PARP (Pick a Reading Partner) program!
Hosted by the Gloversville Elementary PTA, PARP challenges our pre-K through grade 5 scholars to read for at least 20 minutes every day with a partner. These three classrooms went above and beyond, earning themselves a well-deserved celebration:
Jenn Clayburn’s 2nd Grade Class at Kingsborough
Jill Thaisz’s 2nd Grade Class at Park Terrace
Amy VanNostrand’s 3rd Grade Class at Boulevard
Thank you to the Gloversville Elementary PTA for organizing this fantastic month-long initiative, to all the reading partners at home, and a huge shoutout to our dedicated scholars. Keep up the phenomenal reading! 📚✨
Ms. Robare’s class crushed their goals and filled up their very last behavior jar of the year! To celebrate, they threw an awesome glow party.
Check out some of the fun photos from today! These kindergarten scholars definitely earned it. 🕵️♂️💡🥳🔴⚫

Please view the attached official statement from Superintendent David Halloran issued today, May 29, 2026.

Scholars asked great questions about planes, flying, and the places he’s traveled, while also sharing their own aviation knowledge. They learned that Lt. Col. Phillips flew fighter planes, cargo planes, and commercial planes — and even reached 49,000 feet in the air. He also shared that the C-5 Galaxy is longer than the Wright brothers’ first flight!
Scholars left with their own foam glider and a C-5 fact sheet, and even learned that Mrs. Martin has flown a plane too. It was an unforgettable experience for our second graders!

Over the past two days, we proudly welcomed our newest little Huskies and Dragons during our inaugural Kindergarten Signing Day! Families gathered as our future scholars officially “signed” their commitment to begin their educational journey right here at GESD📚
From posing with their certificates to meeting staff and celebrating this exciting milestone, it was a special experience for everyone involved and a perfect way to kick off the Class of 2039’s journey.
We can’t wait to watch these young scholars learn, grow, and make their mark in our schools for years to come. Welcome to the Gloversville family! ❤️🤍
The results are in! Gloversville voters have approved the 2026–27 school budget (73% approval!) and all 3 capital propositions. Thank you for supporting our scholars, programs, and future! 🎉
Congrats to our elected BOE trustees: Sharon Poling, Loren Iorio, John Lott, & Jillian Santiago.
