Thanks to an Arts and Ed grant from BOCES, the fifth grades at Boulevard Elementary were able to Zoom with civil rights icon, Ruby Bridges on June 8. In addition to having the opportunity to ask her questions about her life, the students created either poetry or art projects to share how Ruby had inspired them.

Mrs. Berlin's speech students at Boulevard are getting ready for summer by writing their bucket lists!

Mrs. Smeallie's class has completed their Zoo Creations. After creating an animal of their choice, they measured the length, width and height of each box they used. They then calculated the volume of each box and the total volume of their animal. Their creations then came to life with paint.

Students in Mrs. DeMaria’s and Mrs. Sweeney’s second grade classes participate in a daily check in every morning before entering the classroom!

On June 1st it was announced that Boulevard's Olympics of Visual Arts Team (OVA) came in second place for the Elementary Illustration challenge! This is the 40th year of the statewide competition, Boulevard's second year competing. Six students (Laura S, Kendra S, Ryan S, Anthony P, Zahavah W, and Cara S) came together once a week for 3 months to work on an artistic problem: to imagine two illustrations that would work as movie posters based off of a Celtic myth. The students had to research celtic mythology and imagery, imagine and design characters that would be in an epic battle, and work together to create a final design. Congratulations on their hard work and creative problem solving!
